About Kyna

Kyna Moore, NCC, LPC(TN) (LPC in North Carolina; LPC & LMFT in Virginia)

Kyna is a native southerner and a mountain girl at heart: born in Asheville, NC and raised in the Blueridge mountains of Roanoke,VA. Like a lot of people, much of her life has been about overcoming adversity, living the Christian life on the peaks and in the valleys. When Kyna was 10, her parents divorced and she was raised with an older brother by a single, working Mom (Margaret Lee) who worked as a secretary at the First Baptist Church in Roanoke. Growing up "behind the scenes" of this big church gave Kyna a life that often left her feeling like a misplaced minister's kid! When Margaret retired, she married their widowed pastor, Charles Fuller, and Kyna's lifelong pastor became her "Dad!" Having already lost her biological father in '99, Kyna's mom also passed away on Christmas day in 2004.

Among her successes, Kyna earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Richmond, and an M.A. in Counseling from Regent University in Virginia Beach. At Regent she was awarded the Beasley Scholarship and met her husband, Rodney, a writer and personal trainer.

In the Tidewater area, Kyna worked as an in-home advocate for a private hospital group and in two local Christian counseling agencies. She achieved her VA state licenses (LPC & LMFT) and national certification (NCC) in '95.
Before moving to Nashville, Kyna had worked for First Hospital Corp. for seven years. Her parting position was as the first Director of FHC's new Treatment Foster Care Program. She obtained her LPC in North Carolina in 2010,

In Nashville, Kyna worked in a non-profit group home for young women in crisis, and two community mental health centers leading groups with at-risk kids in Metro schools and chronically mentally ill adults. In '97 she obtained her TN LPC license and launched her private practice. In 2000, she left full-time employment to work solely in private practice.

Kyna has written numerous articles on abuse, relationships, and parenting teens for several LifeWay publications. She was an adjunct faculty member at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. She twice served on the board of the local Nashville Area Association of Christian Counselors. Kyna developed and then taught a court-approved parenting course for six years at The People's Church, where she was a member.

Kyna also has an artist's soul. With a background in church music and leading worship, her love of music led to country songwriting. She formed an ASCAP publishing company and has been blessed to write with some great local talent.

In 2008 Kyna launched Coach KynaTM! As a coach she's been writing and speaking more and is currently writing a book on branding with her husband.

Kyna and Rodney now make their home in Thompson's Station, where the cows still come home in the evening and the stars light up the night sky!
